Why Choose a Mobile Abattoir?

Traditional abattoirs require animals to be transported — sometimes over long distances causing significant stress that directly affects meat quality. Mobile abattoirs eliminate this entirely. The slaughter unit comes to the farm, animals are processed on-site, and the result is higher-quality meat, better animal welfare outcomes, and a cleaner, more transparent supply chain.

For UK and Irish farmers and meat producers, mobile abattoirs also offer a practical solution to the growing shortage of local fixed abattoirs, giving you full control over where, when, and how your animals are processed.

Animal Welfare Benefits

Transporting livestock to distant abattoirs causes significant stress for animals. Mobile abattoirs eliminate or dramatically reduce transport distances, allowing animals to be slaughtered on-farm in familiar surroundings. This approach:

  • Reduces animal stress and improves meat quality

  • Meets growing consumer demand for high-welfare meat production

  • Complies with evolving UK and EU animal welfare regulations

  • Supports on-farm slaughter programmes for ethical meat brands

Cost Savings for Farmers

Traditional livestock transport is expensive and time-consuming. Mobile slaughterhouses offer:
  • Elimination of livestock haulage costs (fuel, driver time, vehicle hire)

  • No need to pay abattoir transport fees

  • Reduced mortality and weight loss during transport

  • Ideal for remote farms with no local abattoir access

  • Shared costs when used by farming cooperatives
