Cryogenic batch freezers use liquefied carbon dioxide (LCO2) or liquefied nitrogen (LIN) for discontinuous cooling and freezing. Controlled injection of the cryogenic gas lowers the temperature in the cabinet as the gas immediately evaporates. The latent heat of evaporation is the main source of cooling energy. Cooling and mixing

Rotary drum freezers consist of a sloping cylindrical drum, which is rotating around its axis.
Product and cooling medium are loaded continuously at the highest entrance point of the drum. By the rotating movement, both are intensively mixed while, at the same time, sliding to the lower exit of the drum. The stirring movement and the mixing prevent products from clumping together. Multibelt freezer

Linear freezing tunnel with 3 belts on top of each other

Cryogenic multi-belt freezers use liquefied carbon dioxide (LCO2) or liquefied nitrogen (LIN) for continuous cooling and freezing. Multiple superposed conveyor belts move the product backwards and forwards through the freezer. At the end of each belt, the product falls onto the belt below to go back through the freezer. Screw Conveyor for simultaneous conveying and cooling

Introduction

Screw conveyors are not limited to moving products horizontally and upwards; while moving the product, screw conveyors can cool, mix and blend components.
As the product moves, it is gently sprayed and mixed with coolant.  Injecting liquid nitrogen droplets or CO2 dry ice into the screw conveyor ensures efficient and homogenous cooling or freezing.  Exhaust fans extract the waste gases. (more…)
